oops!

So I didn't realize it's been 4 months since I last posted! oooops.

I've been keeping busy with life.

  • working
  • playing with the ever growing Chuy
  • being a bridesmaid in 2 October weddings
  • planning my own wedding
  • singing
  • some knitting
I haven't been knitting or sewing near as much as I'd like. I did manage to finish 4 projects in the last week though! I started and finished 3 scarves and finally finished a monster I started for David last year (oops!)

I'm having fun with crafty wedding plans. Some of our DIY touches include:
  • embroidered felt flowers
  • pom poms and pom pom flowers
  • button bouquets
  • coloring books
  • flower hair pieces
  • the bottom half of my wedding dress!
I'm sure there's more I'll make but that's all I can think of right now. I personally won't be making my wedding dress, my mom is. We bought a dress with an awesome top on sale and she's going to redo the skirt and make it awesome!

Another exciting piece of news is David is finally graduating from college in 31 days! 1 day less than a full year after mine :) I know he's so ready to be done and I'm so ready to actually see him more.

whelp.....I hope to post again very soon with pictures :)

I had a birthday and received the best birthday present ever...my puppy Chuy!

He's a toy apricot poodle and completely awesome! I just love his little curls and cute nose. I'll let my pictures do the rest of the talking for me...

blegh

I've had a pretty rough two weeks. From a kidney stone to a bruised rib cartilage to my 4th TMJ arthroscope and all the meds that accompany those things. Then add work on top of all that! Luckily I'm blessed with some amazing co-workers who have been so understanding and great through all this.

Today was a tough day especially. I had to drive to San Antonio for my post-surgery check up which was good, but that drive is tiring. Then I just felt generally yucky the rest of the day...AND I didn't have a hair band to put my hair up with and my hair decided to be mega frizzy. It's the little things that get to you when you feel lousy.

I figure I need to make a list of some things to focus on to keep me cheery tomorrow.

  • Lipton vanilla caramel truffle tea (yes, it's as good as it sounds!)
  • knitting monsters
  • my little mermaid cup....still cheering me up
  • burt the bear
  • hanging out with David tomorrow
ok bed time.

Hawaii

I'm not sure how much I've talked about it on here but I'm going to Hawaii this summer with some high school seniors and college students at my church. I'm pretty stoked about it to tell you the truth. While there we will be working with the pacific islander people who immigrate there to work in the tourist industry, and often live up to 20 to an apartment. We will also be helping out with the Baptist World Alliance Congress. We will get to experience worshiping with Christians from over 150 different countries all over the world...awesome!

I have to raise a good amount of money to go, most of which I have not raised yet. I'm not worried though, I have faith God will provide...He always has :) The total cost fro travel, airfare, room and board and meals is $1500. So far I have $190 in my account at church.

I just sent out letters to most of my family and family friends asking for prayers and any monetary contribution they feel led to give. I also decided to make some cute canvas tote bags to sell as a way of raising money for the trip. 100% of the money I get for these bags will go straight to my account for the trip this summer.

They are made from beige canvas lined in a fun bright Hawaiian floral cotton. The top-stitching on the outside matches the floral fabric. I also hand painted flowers on the outside in coordinating teal, green and gold.

You can see by the magazine pics how big they are. I bought enough materials to make 24 bags, but as of right now I've made three. If any of you would like to order one let me know and I'll start cranking them out.

I decided to set a price of $25 for each bag, or a donation amount you feel led to give for one of them. With each bag I will also include a prayer card with specific requests for our trip this summer and the people groups I will be working with.

If you'd like to order a bag you can comment here or email me at randamocity@gmail.com. Mostly I would love your prayers! Going on any length of mission trip is hard but rewarding work and only possible with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ lifting me up from around the world :)

I'm at home now recovering and here are a few things cheering me up:

I want to make some pretty cheery bunting for my desk at work

my new headband i knit last week

watching the tinker bell movie

I finally finished something AND took a picture...

...well I kinda took a photo. yay, photobooth!

So I've been sick all week.
Sunday - ear felt weird
Monday - went to dr and had ear infection, got meds
Tuesday - still felt crappy but made it through work
Wednesday - felt worse, stayed home, went to Dr, sinus infection and got stronger meds
Today - stayed home, basically had a sinus migraine all day...major suckage!

I'm on so much medicine right now. Strong antibiotics (the stuff they give you if you come in contact with ANTHRAX!!), zyrtec, sudafed, excedrin, mucinex, and I will taking benadryl in a bit to sleep. Don't worry, It's been a while since I took all that other junk so I won't die tonight of an overdose :) But seriously...if anthrax killing antibiotics won't cure me what will?

So yesterday and today I knit a few rows here and there and finished my little scarf/shawlette. It's the 22.5 degree pattern and I think I love it. I used a thicker yarn than called for and size 10.5 needles. It's plush, soft, and full of merino wool goodness.

Now I'm going to watch some Craig Ferguson and hope to sleep. Night all!

February 21, 2010

whoa!

I haven't posted in over a month! Sorry bout that...to anyone who might actually read this, haha.

The reason for my slowed pace in updating is I got a full time job! I am now a member services representative for Relativity Press. We have two brands right now that deal with real estate agents. The company trains agents on how to help homeowners who are in threat of losing their home in foreclosure and bankruptcy, sell their home in a short sale instead. It's a great company that is doing great things for families and individuals all across the country.

I think the average age of the 40ish people working there is about 25. David works there too as a designer. Actually I knew 4 people I work with before I started...David, Casey, Whitney and Joel. So even if answering phones and emails starts to get boring after 8 hours, I have fun people I love around me all day.

God has definitely blessed me with this job and my co-workers. Now I just need to find time to knit and sew again.

I'm currently knitting some fingerless mitts for my sister, a scarf/shawlette for me, and planning a knit monster for Sophie. I also have a bunch of bags I need to sew.

I'm making and selling canvas tote bags to raise money for a mission trip I'm taking to Hawaii this summer. As soon as I get the first one finished I'll get some good pictures and post them on here with more details on my trip and the people I will be working with. I'm very excited about this trip, the people I'll meet and the great tings God is going to do.

Well I need to knit a bit then get to bed.

Goodnight readers, I hope to be back soon! :)

bows bows bows

I've discovered a great new hair accessory that I love to knit...bows! You might remember I made a cute little purple one for Whitney back in September for her 22nd birthday. She has big amazing curly hair and bows look perfect on her head. I noticed she wore that purple one a lot so I decided a box of more colorful bowiness was a must for Christmas. Her gift was actually the first of my Christmas knitting I finished.

I tried to incorporate every color of the rainbow in her box-o-bows and I think I succeeded. She loved them and I get a thrill every time I see her wearing one. They're the perfect accessory too because her work uniform is all black but she can wear whatever she wants in her hair. Now she can show off some of her funky style at work :)

I posted the pics of her bows on etsy and got a custom order within the first day. While in New Orleans last week I knit the 4 new bows for the custom order, she just got them today and loved them. yay!

They are still posted on my etsy and I'll accept orders on here or facebook as well if anyone wants any! I love knitting these and there is no end to the color combo possibilities!
