the power of Your name

surely children weren't made for the streets
and fathers were not made to leave
surely this isn't how it should be
let Your kingdom come

surely nations were not made for war
or the broken meant to be ignored
surely this just can't be what You saw
let Your kingdom come
here in my heart

i will live
yo carry Your compassion
to love a world that's broken
to be Your hands and feet
i will give
with the life that i've been given
and go beyond religion
to see the world be changed
by the power of Your name

surely life wasn't made to regret
and the lost were not made to forget
surely faith without action is dead
let Your kingdom come
Lord break this heart

i will live
to carry Your compassion
to love a world that's broken
to be Your hands and feet
i will give
with the life that I've been given
and go beyond religion
to see the world be changed
by the power of Your name

Your name
is a shelter for the hurting
Jesus Your name
is a refuge for the weak
only Your name
can redeem the undeserving
Jesus Your name
holds everything i need

ric rac

I've been making lots of ric rac flowers lately! I'm currently wearing one in my hair that I made during a lull at work this morning (pictured above). Pictures are in the camera and ready to be posted as soon as I give my sister the 2 made for her. One is a surprise and she has no idea what it looks like so naturally I can't post it on here yet....but soon!

I also plan to sell these so if you see one you like let me know and I'll get an order for you. I personally think they'd look awesome as bridesmaid hair pieces :)

holiday crafting

The past week or so I've been bit by the holiday crafting bug!

I''ve:
  • bought fabric to make our Wall family stockings
  • knit 2 Christmas monsters
  • bought a foam wreath form to wrap in yarn and decorate for each season/holiday
  • painted a cute halloween spider...thing
  • made felt halloween garland

I've also been working on some non seasonal decor for our little apartment like:
  • red glittery W for dining room wall
  • embroidered 'david & miranda' for dining room wall
  • dyed our headboard fabric
  • painted small crafting tray to keep my projects more contained
  • hung framed prints throughout the apartment
  • added more color to the guest bathroom
  • so much more I'm sure...

Our apartment is starting to really feel like home. I'm SO excited to start decorating for Christmas (after Halloween)!!

I hope to have pictures soon I promise. I always want to take pics at night and the light is just plain bad so I'm hoping to take some this afternoon :)

what i've been up to

I've been working on a lot of projects around the house plus some other random crafting. Here are some pics form my phone...all I have right now :)

ric-rac flower making

sparkly headband knitting

chain stitching

Oh and Chuy is just perfecting being the cutest dog ever :)

It's that time again...

Christmas knitting begins!

July 7, 2011

It's crazy hot here in Texas this summer. Makes it hard to knit sometimes. I started a new job last week and am trying to adjust my crafting needs around that. Weirdly enough, I've finished more projects around the apartment since I started working again than I did when I was home all day...silly.

Today I made a pillow case and curtains AND hung them. Pictures soon I hope :)

Tomorrow we head out to east Texas for some family reunion fun!

sparkly knits

I just finished my first knit hat in a while. I bought this yarn to make a hat to wear last winter...oops! It's a light enough yarn that I don't feel hot wearing it right now in my apartment while it's nearly 100 degrees outside. It's also sparkly! I have a secret love for all things glittery.

These are the best pictures I have right now. We;ll see if I ever take better ones :)

I love the pattern of the top of the hat. I also wanted to show how stinkin long my hair has gotten!

comfort & home

I'm back and it hasn't been a month...shocker! I have some pics to share :) First here are some detail shots of our home that I love.

Homemade monsters and bear on the mantel

letters in the kitchen from our fave Aussies!

shelves of doodads in the dining room

wedding pompoms hanging in the bathroom

bedside lamps in our room

The rest of this post is about some rice bags I made. I'm not sure what to really call them actually. They're bags of rice you put in the freezer or microwave and use to feel better. I decided to make 2 sets, one cold and one hot.

I found this awesome plaid/owl flannel at JoAnns and added some solid Kona cottons for the backs.

I also sewed in some ribbon on the long bags to help keep them in place if they need to be worn around the shoulders or on the head.

I made some of these for mother's day a few years back and finally got around to making a set for our home. David gets sinus tension in his neck so the long one really helps relieve tension.

Now off to knit and watch The Emperor's New Groove!

monsters!

Here are 2 of my latest finished projects! I actually finished one nearly a year ago and nearly finished the 2nd...then just didn't, ha. I got the entire 2nd one knit and then just never sewed it all together. In that year I moved, got engaged, planned a wedding, got married, quit my job and FINALLY finished her.

What was meant to be a present for a newborn baby and her big sister ended up being a 1st birthday present.

little Blake and her monster :)

I just love giving these monsters as gifts. I think they're perfect because you can make them any color or pattern to match the recipient's personality and style. What I liked most about this gift was they were for sisters. Yay for Blake turning 1 and yay for Dylan being an awesome big sister for a year :)

I have more to post soon!
