new knit flowers!

I had an order for some of my knit flower hair pins last week and got a bit worried at first. I love these knit flowers but after a while they get floppy and mine tend to slip off the bobby pins. it's also hard to keep the petals looking...petally. I wanted to fulfill the order but also didn't want to sell something that I knew wouldn't hold up the way I wanted.

I sat and though for a bit then decided I'd try to sew the knit flower onto felt just like my ric rac flowers. My only worry was they might end up super bulky.

Take a look!

I love how they turned out! (I made 2, I realize I'm only posting pics of one). The felt helped keep the petal shape so nicely. When I glued the back piece of felt on with the clip I shaped it a bit to form more naturally to someone's head. I tried it on and was surprised at how NOT bulky it felt. These flowers actually have a lower profile than my ric rac flowers.

Now I need to make some more for me and to get some more color options out there. Let me know if these suit your fancy and I can get an order going! I also have some non-flower hair clip ideas in my head for those of you who just don't want a flower in your hair :)

Who?

The hubs and I are recent Doctor Who fans. We watch it every night we can on netflix and I love it! This Threadless shirt is awesome, but unfortunately not in my size...oh well.

flowers!

Here are some real pictures, finally, of my ric rac flowers! I love how flexible they can be with any color or button style. I plan to make some fun holiday flowers and some different collections of color themes. I'm already thinking earth tones, jewel tones, sparkles and maybe even rhinestones. I also have some non ric rac flowers in the planning. Hope you enjoy the pics!

If you aren't already you should go follow my facebook page!

I just posted a new product I put on etsy today. As of right now I'm taking custom orders on my ric rac flowers. Let me know if you want some and I'll get started!!

the power of Your name

surely children weren't made for the streets
and fathers were not made to leave
surely this isn't how it should be
let Your kingdom come

surely nations were not made for war
or the broken meant to be ignored
surely this just can't be what You saw
let Your kingdom come
here in my heart

i will live
yo carry Your compassion
to love a world that's broken
to be Your hands and feet
i will give
with the life that i've been given
and go beyond religion
to see the world be changed
by the power of Your name

surely life wasn't made to regret
and the lost were not made to forget
surely faith without action is dead
let Your kingdom come
Lord break this heart

i will live
to carry Your compassion
to love a world that's broken
to be Your hands and feet
i will give
with the life that I've been given
and go beyond religion
to see the world be changed
by the power of Your name

Your name
is a shelter for the hurting
Jesus Your name
is a refuge for the weak
only Your name
can redeem the undeserving
Jesus Your name
holds everything i need

ric rac

I've been making lots of ric rac flowers lately! I'm currently wearing one in my hair that I made during a lull at work this morning (pictured above). Pictures are in the camera and ready to be posted as soon as I give my sister the 2 made for her. One is a surprise and she has no idea what it looks like so naturally I can't post it on here yet....but soon!

I also plan to sell these so if you see one you like let me know and I'll get an order for you. I personally think they'd look awesome as bridesmaid hair pieces :)

holiday crafting

The past week or so I've been bit by the holiday crafting bug!

I''ve:
  • bought fabric to make our Wall family stockings
  • knit 2 Christmas monsters
  • bought a foam wreath form to wrap in yarn and decorate for each season/holiday
  • painted a cute halloween spider...thing
  • made felt halloween garland

I've also been working on some non seasonal decor for our little apartment like:
  • red glittery W for dining room wall
  • embroidered 'david & miranda' for dining room wall
  • dyed our headboard fabric
  • painted small crafting tray to keep my projects more contained
  • hung framed prints throughout the apartment
  • added more color to the guest bathroom
  • so much more I'm sure...

Our apartment is starting to really feel like home. I'm SO excited to start decorating for Christmas (after Halloween)!!

I hope to have pictures soon I promise. I always want to take pics at night and the light is just plain bad so I'm hoping to take some this afternoon :)
